- To maximise ‘sports’ opportunities at Rynfield Primary School in order to grow and enhance sporting skills and abilities across all RPS sporting activities. Furthermore, to establish a quality sports development and training programme for all ages that facilitates learners to attain their full potential, build character and enhance their self esteem.
- To continually strive for excellence both on and off the field by creating a sporting environment for the growth and potential development of all learners.
Sports Philosophy
- To utilize sports, physical education and activities as a means to promote the social, mental and physical well being of our learners.
- To encourage learners at all levels to participate in sporting activities with the intention of developing our learners holistically.
- To develop basic sporting skills, knowledge and sportsmanship in the Foundation Phase, moving towards enhancing skills and ability in later grades.
- Applying the ‘FUN’ principle: F = Fun , U = Understanding, N = Nurturing. Engagement and learning come from an enjoyable, worthwhile experience. To keep our learners involved by having ‘fun’ as well as developing technique, potential and talent.
- To use sport as a ‘tool’ in the development of learners’ teamwork, team morale, discipline, perseverance, character and leadership skills.

Sports Uniform
All learners are required to participate in Physical Education. Non participation will require a valid doctor’s note. Physical Education affords learners the opportunity to learn and improve a variety of skills. It also forms part of the school curriculum and marks are awarded to each learner for participation and skill.
The Physical Education uniform consists of:
- Red collared shirt with school badge;
- Grey shorts;
- School tracksuit;
- White long sleeved fleece lined School top (Winter only);
- White short socks no secret socks;
- Takkies or sports shoes (white only. No Tomy Takkies ).
No other garment may be worn as part of the uniform, i.e. the schools jersey may not be worn over Phys. Ed. Shirt.

Where the school provides the sporting uniform, a non refundable deposit will be required.
