Rynfield Primary School - The School With Heart

Foundation Phase

Academics Foundation Phase

At Rynfield Primary, our Foundation Phase plays an important role in the building blocks of a child’s educational journey. We ensure that your child’s best interest is always a first priority. Our teachers are committed to creating conducive classroom environments to ensure that active learning is taking place. We believe in structure and routine and incorporate these values into the daily procedures in the classroom. Instilling the value of ‘choices’, guides our learners in terms of behaviour. Discipline is seen as consequences to ‘poor choices’ and with the hope of implementing positive reinforcement, we model and discuss what ‘good choices’ look like.

We uphold the idea of partnerships as one of our highest aims at RPS. A strong partnership between our parents and our School is of such importance to aid our learners with support, encouragement and comfort. This partnership allows for a child to find and experience success in their academic, social and emotional facets of their lives.

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” – Henry Ford

Extra-murals are a very important part of a child’s development. We encourage our learners to participate in after school sport. A child who is active is more likely to be academically motivated and more focused in school. At this early stage, we encourage fun, involvement and commitment.

Rynfield Primary School follows the CAPS Curriculum from Grades R – 7 as prescribed for Public Schools. We have a proud tradition of our learners being readily accepted into High Schools, both locally as well as outside the province

In the Foundation Phase (Grades 1 – 3) English, Afrikaans, Mathematics and Life Skills are taught and assessed.

Promotion Requirements are as follows:

If a learner in Grades 1 – 3 does not meet the minimum requirements in any of these, such a learner will be required to repeat the grade.

“A good education is the foundation for a better future.” - Elizabeth Warren
